Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a lump on my groin, which is red, sore, raised, and swollen. I consulted a doctor, and they said to try some antibiotics. But if they did not work, they said it might have to be cut out. I have bad anxiety, and I am so worried as to what it is. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. It looks like a form of infection or inflammation. Is there any history of sexual exposure? What is the duration of the lump? How painful is this? Does any other site involve? The attached photographs in your message are not very clear (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Kindly send a well-focused picture of the affected area to assess the condition and suggest the appropriate diagnosis and treatment.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

There is no history of sexual exposure. It first showed up four months ago. It seemed like it was going down when I was on the antibiotics. But now it seems to have come back up, and when it does come back, it is very painful. At first, I had a couple of them, but now I have only one. I have taken another picture, which is probably the best I could get for you. I also have some sores on my ankle and heel and have pain in my index finger, but I am not sure if it is related.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thanks for sharing the details and photographs (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It looks like a recurrent cutaneous bacterial infection. Take the following medications and review them after 10 days. Take Capsule Rifampicin 600 mg once daily on an empty stomach for 10 days. It may turn urine red, and that is nothing to worry about, Tablet Cefadroxil 500 mg twice a day for five days after meals, Tablet Flexon (Paracetamol + Ibuprofen) twice a day for five days.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
