Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 28-year-old male. I had sex with my partner two months ago, about a week later my genitals were itching and achy. I went and got tested and was negative on chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrhea. I had no bumps, pus or anything like that. My family doctor said it could be a yeast infection. I have been applying antifungal Lotrimin for 10 days now and the symptoms have not gone away. I am lost at what to do. My penis itches and occasionally aches and my testicles are itchy. It is a little red and is fairly irritated at the urethra. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is more likely a fungal infection by the description given. It is prone to recurrence. Please keep the area clean and treat the partner also. Avoid intercourse. Use condoms if needed. Both take treatment simultaneously. Get back with details and photos.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I used some Lotrimon ointment and it seemed to help a little, but still having issues. My testicles are still red and I have a rash now on my penis around the foreskin. This is going on for three months now. I have not had sex since but have been masturbating frequently.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen the photos but it is not clear. (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

I see some red tiny rashes on the penis. I presume you have red rashes even in the scrotal area. These may be due to fungal infection. You can try with oral antifungal like Fluconazole 150 mg weekly once. Treat your partner if any also. Clean the area with warm water twice daily. Do not over clean it with soap. Instead, you can use cleansers like Cetaphil or mild soaps. Apply antifungal cream like Candid (Clotrimazole) or Lotrimin lotion (Clotrimazole) twice daily. Keep the area dry. You can use candid dusting powders in the thigh area to prevent moisture due to sweating. You can get back with clear photos and details if it does not subside.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
