What could be the reason for periods and pelvic pain in a woman with a history of ectopic pregnancy?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am having extremely painful periods for the past ten years. I have a history of ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage and got the intrauterine device removed the same year. When I saw a doctor, they told me that cysts were just a normal part of pregnancy or miscarriage. Now I am having pain on the left side, pelvic pain, and pain during intercourse even when I am not on my period. During my period, the pain is so intense it almost knocks me out. I have thrown up because of the pain and dizziness. My ears have also started ringing recently.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Sometimes IUDs (intrauterine devices) may cause such pain, but you said IUD is removed. Are you suffering from any discharge, as an infection could be one of the reasons? Have you done your ultrasound scan recently? If not then please get it done because without examining and the recent ultrasound report I cannot comment much. Before going towards treatment we should find the cause till then you can have a tablet of Meftal-Spas (Dicyclomine and Mefenamic Acid) after consulting your specialist doctor whenever there is pain.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
