Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My left side cheek is swelled. There is no pain present when I touch it. I have attached my picture. Please advice.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the attachment (attachment removed to protect patient identity). The swelling occurs due to various reasons. It can occur due to a toothache or carious tooth in the same region. It can be due to trauma, sinusitis due to nose infection, and due to a bite of insects. But most probably, it is a case of dentoalveolar abscess due to a carious tooth. This abscess can pass into soft tissues like cheeks and can cause swelling. The space in the cheek is so large, so you can feel less pain when you touch it. It can compress the nerves and can create pain.

Take tablet Ordent (Ofloxacin and Ornidazole) twice a day for five days, tablet Zerodol SP (Aceclofenac, Paracetamol and Serratiopeptidase) twice a day for three days, and tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg once a day for one week. These are symptomatic measures. Visit your dentist as soon as possible for a direct clinical examination to find out the cause.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
