What could be the cause of the painless lump in my throat causing discomfort?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have had a lump in my throat for a few days now. It feels like mucus but its moves around. It goes to my nasal canal blocking my nose or one nostril. It can go down to my throat where it feels like I have a huge lump near my hyoid bone or down near my thyroid (this is where it usually resides). I have tried swallowing this lump several times but it comes back. It is a terrible sensation that causes me a lot of anxiety since it feels alive. I do not have trouble eating or swallowing but when I do swallow it feels strange. I have had upper chest pains in the middle and feeling tired even after sleeping 12 hours, headaches, pressure around the ear area and also a feeling of dizziness. I am not in pain, but it is causing a lot of discomforts. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It appears like mucus plugs and sinus congestion. I would suggest you take these medicines. Anti-inflammatory drugs like Trypsin Chymotrypsin and Rutoside combination twice daily before meals. Mucolytics like N-acetyl Cysteine or Ambroxol Hydrochloride twice or thrice daily. Antihistaminic like Desler has to be taken once daily. Drink plenty of warm water. Avoid smoking and drinking. Do write back to us if you do not find improvement. The medicines are to be taken for three days and if you do not find improvement we shall tweak them slightly or add a new drug to the regimen.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
