Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I feel light-hearted, have heart palpitations, a pounding sensation now and then like a pulse in my face, feel weak, and have a resting heart rate of 97 beats per minute. I also currently have other internal issues healthwise. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I want to tell you that the most common causes of the symptoms you described are hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), heart disease, and anxiety disorder. For hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), I will suggest you get TSH (Thyroid-stimulating hormone), T3 (Triiodothyronine), T4 (Thyroxine) tests done, and if any abnormality is found, it can be treated easily with just two medications. If the result is normal, an ECG (electrocardiogram) should be done to rule out any heart disease. If ECG (electrocardiogram) is also normal, you will fit into the diagnosis of anxiety disorder. You will be fine with a very low dose of anti-anxiety drugs like the tablet Escitalopram (Escitalopram oxalate) 10 mg at night. Nothing to worry about. Your symptoms will go away within five days of this treatment. Kindly follow-up with the reports for further clarification on the diagnosis.

Hope this helps.

Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
