Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I did my pap smear test yesterday and transvaginal ultrasound. I had scanty periods issue and usually lasted only two days or so and then spotted for four to five days. Hence, I underwent the test doctor. After checking myself for a pap smear, my doctor told me that I have bleeding inside. Last year, I also did a pap smear, and I was told that I have bad cervical erosion and must undergo cryosurgery. As I had some personal commitments, I could not get it done. Now I am worried, please check the report and suggest me the solution. Can I go for medicines rather than this surgery? What should I do with the fungal infection? Please find my latest and last year's report attached for your reference.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have seen your pap smear report (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

The report shows that there are no signs of malignancy as such. The second thing is there is a fungal infection that is Candida albicans. Now there are two things to be treated first is cervical erosion, for which you have bleeding inside. The second thing is the fungal infection, so first, there are three treatments to fall for cervical erosion.

1.Thermocautery.

2.Cryotherapy.

3.Laser therapy.

The best treatment out of the three is laser therapy, a few minutes job but expensive. The second comes cryotherapy, in which you may get a few days of white discharge. Thermocautery now a day is a crude way for the treatment. You can take tablets Forcan 150 milligram one dose for the fungal infection and repeated after three days. Second is Canesten vaginal tablet, which has to be inserted inside with clean hands or an applicator at night for six days. You should also check your blood sugar label to rule out diabetes mellitus keep your private parts clean.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

For fungal infection, Forcan 150 mg to be taken on the first day and then after three days to be taken again. Am I right? One more thing, is bilateral PCOS dangerous? What precautions should I take, and can it be cured?

Answered by Dr. Monica Mathur

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Bilateral PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) may lead to delayed periods. There is a cure for PCOS. As your weight is according to your height, so this is a good thing. PCOS can cause hair growth over the chin due to hormonal changes, and a serial ultrasound should follow it at regular intervals. At present, you do not have to worry about that, but you should get an ultrasound done after five months.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
