Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have PCOD for three years. Currently, I did not get periods for four months and took tablets for it. I followed some home remedies to resolve PCOD but it does not help me. I feel suffocated mentally. The incidents that happen around me make me question everything. I do not know what to do next. I am in a phase where I need to choose my life right now. I need proper guidance. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understood your problems regarding your mental health and physical health. You need to consult a gynecologist for PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease) so that you can get better help for it. According to the symptoms you described, it looks like you are suffering from depression, but it would be better if you answer some questions to confirm the diagnosis and to provide proper treatment. Please mention whether you feel persistently and pervasively low for a day, having any sleep disturbance for the past one or two months, having any decreased concentration on your daily work or activities, and having any negative thoughts about the future. Your PCOD can also cause problems in mental health due to hormonal changes. I can help you by prescribing medicines for mental health and do counseling for the problems faced by you. So consult me.

The Probable causes

You have PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease) with hormonal changes.

Investigations to be done

You need to CBC (complete blood count), T3 (triiodothyronine), T4 (thyroxine), TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone), FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), LH (luteinizing hormone), and serum estrogen levels.

Differential diagnosis

You can have an organic depressive disorder with moderate depression and Dysthymia.

Probable diagnosis

You can have an organic depressive disorder.

Treatment plan

Consult a gynecologist for PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease). Take antidepressants and have cognitive-behavioral therapy. Try to do physical exercise daily.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
