Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 33-year-old unmarried woman. My height is 5 feet, and my weight is 48 kg. For the past 15 days, I have had dark hair growth around my navel, chest, and face. My doctor has suggested me to wax it. I am very slim and also have a lot of hair fall. I am feeling very inferior due to the hair growth. Can you please suggest a permanent method to stop the unwanted hair growth?

Kindly help.

Answered by Dr. Monica Mathur

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and would be happy to help. The excessive hair growth over the chest and other parts can be due to hirsutism or polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), in which a hormonal imbalance in the body leads to excessive hair growth. I suggest you to get an ultrasound of your lower abdomen to detect the presence of any cysts in the ovaries. Regarding appearance, waxing is a good option for hair removal. Also, you can opt for permanent hair removal at a specialized skin clinic.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert in case of further doubts.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your response.

Is there any medicine to reduce unwanted hair growth instead of a laser or wax? Also, will there be any problem if I choose laser therapy to remove my abdominal hair?

Kindly advise.
