Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was just wondering what those lines or patches are on my penis, and it is only on the Corona of glans. I do not know if they have always been there or what (I had never paid any attention or looked that close at my penis and just seen them randomly when I was looking at it). I am 25 years old. They do not hurt or itch or bother me or anything. I was just wondering what it could be? I did not know if it was normal or HPV or some other STD. I have tried looking on the web but could not find anything else like it.

Thank you doctor.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the query.

I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have been suffering from lines or patches on the corona of glans.

According to the pictures (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) that are provided here, you may suffer from pearly penile papules. They are usually threaded like skin-colored bumps, which are situated on the sulcus or corona of the glans penis. The papules are usually situated around the penile head in one or several rows. They are not harmful. It is not STD-related. They will not cause any hamper in sexual activities.

Biopsy from the lesion can provide confirmation of this diagnosis.

Take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I just did not know because I could not find anything else that looked like it on the web all the pearly papules. So do you not think this is not HPV warts or STD?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thanks for joining again. Their size and color may vary from person to person. They may appear as pink, white pimples 1 to 4 mm in diameter. They can appear as clusters in rings or rows. They appear as skin-colored papules too. They are harmless, benign, painless, and non-itchy in nature. Pearly penile papules have misjudged an STD like genital warts, but genital warts are larger in size than pearly penile papules, and they appear as cauliflower-shaped and can occur in areas other than corona of glans, like penis, scrotum, or anus. Genital warts are also painless, like pearly penile papules, but they become itchy as well as inflamed and even can bleed. Suppose you suffer from any type of complications from patches on the penis or having a history of sexual exposure. In that case, you can share those, and additional information will be very helpful for proper diagnosis. Still, if you doubt, you can undergo a biopsy from the patches on the penis, and a biopsy report will confirm whether it is pearly penile papules or genital warts.

Take care.
