Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Before a week I noticed a fleshy sac protruding from my back left gum below my wisdom tooth. I do not had pain or discomfort. I decided to rinse my mouth with salt water for few times on that day to see for the disappearance of it. The next day, the sac got smaller but I had a swelling in my neck. I do not had pain in my neck or mouth. But I was able to feel the lymph node with my finger when I titled my neck. After two days, the sac in my mouth was gone. I had pain on the left side of the neck slightly and the lymph node was tighter when I felt it with my fingers. Is this a serious problem or a common one? Please suggest.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It seems to be due to pericoronitis and it causes lymph node inflammation and pain. It is a chronic problem and it comes at regular intervals. I suggest you take medications and if possible, share the picture to provide a better prognosis and treatment.

The Probable causes

It can be due to infection of the partially erupted tooth.

Investigations to be done

X-ray has to be taken to judge the status of the tooth.

Differential diagnosis

It can be a lateral pharyngeal space infection.

Probable diagnosis

It seems to be pericoronitis (chief complaints)

Treatment plan

Medication is needed (drug allergy history).

Preventive measures

accordingly

Regarding follow up

I request you to share the picture and drug allergy history to avoid a life-threatening condition and to provide best treatment to have a speedy recovery.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
