Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My periods are six days late. It has been six months since my medical abortion, and I have had regular periods during these six months. I did not even have sex in these six months, so there was no chance I could be pregnant, and I felt slight cramping. Please let me know if there is anything I should worry about regarding the abortion I had. Can it affect me anymore? Why are my periods this late?

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Sometimes periods might get delayed by one or two weeks because of some stress or recent illness. If you have not gone through any intercourse in the last six months, then there is no chance of getting pregnant. So I would suggest waiting two weeks after your due date, even if periods would not come, then do an ultrasound abdomen and pelvis scan to rule out any pathology. Otherwise, no need to worry; you do not require any interventions.

I hope this information helps you.

Thank you.
