Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My doppler scan shows:

Diastolic increased resistance flow. Intima media is slightly thickened.

Leg wound not healing for diabetic patient.

Please comment on the result.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I reviewed your scans (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It seems you are having evidence of peripheral artery disease. Unfortunately, there is no full-proof of medical management to this. On top of this you also have diabetes which might be making things worse. I know medicines like Pentoxifylline are tried in cases like yours but responses may be variable.

Ultimately if things worsen then vascular surgeons to stent or graft surgeries. I am not an expert on that aspect. I recommend you to ask your primary doctor to refer you to a vascular surgeon. Certainly, he can help you with this, not sure how much it will help with wound healing. I am sure you are taking good care of feet hygiene and visiting endocrinologist on regular basis, if not please do it.

Foot care is essential in your case, sometimes it is good to have podiatry (foot doctor) also review your case and inspect your feet to ensure there is no underlying bone infection.

I hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
