Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a dental student doing my internship. I am suffering from constipation from the past one week. I have a burning sensation in the anal region which I am unable to tolerate. Sometimes, there is severe itching and pain as well. I stay in the hostel. So, can you suggest me some tips to reduce the pain?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.I appreciate you seeking help. Well, constipation is the key feature in piles or fissures which exhibit similar symptoms. I recommend the following for relief: 1. Streamline your diet and lifestyle: Focus on a balanced Mediterranean diet, with adequate intake of water and roughage. Take at least eight to ten glasses of water every day. 2. Walk in fresh air for at least 30 to 45 minutes daily. 3. Restrict eating chicken and eggs as they are likely to worsen the condition and consequently complicate constipation, piles or fissures if any. 4. Avoid high-calorie foods including sweets, cakes, pastries, greasy, oily, hot and spicy fast foods. 5. Red meat is to be avoided altogether. 6. Take a glass of freshly prepared juice made of ripe bael fruit (wood apple), honey (1 tsp), black pepper, and cardamom every evening. 7. Take a cup of freshly prepared buttermilk, to which a tsp of fresh turmeric powder is mixed, preferably at lunch daily, for the next 21 days. 8. Apply Himalaya Pilex ointment topically in the anus, with an applicator, before passing motion, for the next 15 days. 9. Take Himalaya Herbolax, two capsules orally, once daily, after dinner for 15 days. Hope this helps you to get better soon. Do take care.
