Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I noticed these groups of pimple-like lesions about three days ago. They are not painful or itchy. I am worried. I was tested four months ago for STDs and was negative. I am taking a new test soon. I am worried as it is untreatable. I noticed after a busy day at work. I sit down and am active a lot. I thought it was jock itch but not itching. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I had a look at your picture (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). It is pus-filled; mostly, it is a bacterial infection. If you have any history of unprotected sex, we can plan for a sexually transmitted diseases investigation. For now, I would suggest you take

  1. Tablet Augmentin (Amoxicillin and Clavulanate potassium) 625 mg twice daily for five days after food.
  2. Tablet Zerodol P (Aceclofenac 100 mg and Paracetamol 325 mg) twice a day after food for five days.
  3. Tablet Pan 40 (Pantoprazole) twice a day before food for five days.
  4. Ointment T-Bact (Mupirocin 2 % w/w) for local application once a day for five days. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them and take medicines with their consent. If it is a bacterial infection, you can see a change in 48 hours. It does not look like a fungal infection.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

It has gotten smaller in the past day with antibiotic cream. No similarity or worry with herpes or molluscum contagiosum? That is what my search online had me worried about.

Answered by Dr. Raveendran S R

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

No need to worry. Herpes will be fluid-filled, and there will be depression; you do not have depression; it is only elevation. Molluscum will also be fluid-filled, not pus, and it will look like a carrom coin in the skin. For you, it can be folliculitis; again, antibiotic is the treatment.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
