Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am having a painless pimple protruding on my penis skin. I am concerned about STD. I carried out blood tests and it shows herpes. Kindly suggest some cream.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Herpes genitalis usually presents with well-defined erosions or polycyclic lesions. The lesions are usually associated with pain or a burning sensation. Treatment is with oral antivirals. You complain of painless bumps which are unlikely to be herpes. It seems more like it could be viral warts.

You may ask me a query along with a clear digital photograph of the lesions for a confirmatory diagnosis.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

For herpes, my doctor prescribed me one injection per week for ten weeks. I have already taken four shots and for warts he prescribed me Herpex cream, but it is of no use.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the pictures and test reports. (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

You seem to have a few genitals warts on the undersurface of the prepuce. I would like to know the duration since they have appeared? They should be treated with either Podowart or Imiquimod or CO2 laser. Not with injections or any cream. I hope you visited a dermatologist. Any other doctor will not be able to properly diagnose or treat.

However, the lesions on the corona of glans are actually not warts but a classical representation of pearly penile papules, which is a normal harmless variation. They are more common in younger men and those who are uncircumcised. These are sometimes confused with HPV (human papilloma virus) infection, the papules are not a sexually transmitted infection and are not contagious. These papules present as one or several rows of small, pearly or flesh-colored, smooth, dome-shaped bumps situated circumferentially around the corona of the glans. They require no intervention and can be left as such. They can be left alone as such since they are just a normal anatomic variation. However, if removal is desired, CO2 laser vaporization is the method of choice.

Your reports do seem to suggest that you have had a past infection with herpes (IgG positive). It is not a recent infection (IgM negative). Do you have any history of cold sores? Or genital erosions, ulcers?

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
