Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have what I thought was a pimple on the right side of my chin. This started about four days ago, but I noticed the dwelling to have gotten bigger yesterday only. However, a few days later, the inflammation area seems to have gotten more significant than what a pimple would typically have. I've taken mefenamic to relieve me of the pain, and I would like to ask if there is an antibiotic that I can take to remove the swelling. I also take Ryzodeg, Insulin, Xigduo, and Janumet.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have been suffering from an infected pimple on the right side of your chin, which is painful, inflamed, and getting more extensive than a regular spot. Pimple usually results from the skin's pores' blockage due to excess oil (sebum), dead skin cells, or bacterial infection. It can develop at any time of life when sebaceous glands usually secrete excess sebum. It is usually harmless, but when sebaceous glands become blocked and trigger an immune response which can make the pimple inflamed and larger. Again popping spots can help bacteria enter the wound, and pimples may rupture with pus. For your infected pimple, you can take Clindamycin orally. You can also use topical Retinoids (both natural and synthetic derivatives of vitamin A) cream, anti-bacterial cream like Clindamycin, acne bar soap on your infected area. If any other query asks me, I will try to reply to you further.
