Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am getting small pimples on my face and back. It leaves marks and does not resolve completely. I have been experiencing this problem for the past two months. Also, I have been taking the tablet Methimez for my thyroid issue for the past two weeks.

Could you please help me get rid of the pimples and the scars?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

From your description, it seems like you have facial and truncal acne. Wearing tight-fitting exercise clothing that traps sweat on the skin and blocks pores, which may contribute to outbreaks. People should consider wearing loose-fitting clothes, especially during a heavy gym session. Taking a shower after sweating and using gentle cleansers can help to reduce the risk of acne breakouts on the back.

However, I suggest you to follow a few instructions mentioned below to reduce the risk of acne breakouts.

1. Take a shower if you are sweating.

2. Apply a gentle, non-abrasive cleanser on the face and back with your fingertips.

3. Avoid using products that irritate your skin.

4. Do not scrub the affected areas.

5. Avoid popping, pricking, or squeezing the pimple because this may lead to the spreading of pimples and scarring.

6. Avoid staying out in the sun and avoid tanning beds because damaged skin is more prone to acne.

7. I suggest you to start using Clindamycin (antibiotic) 1 % gel during the daytime over pimples. And use Adapalene (retinoids) 1 % gel at night on the whole face (including dark spots) for two to three months. Adapalene may cause a mild burning sensation, so you should use it in small quantities.

8. And for the trunk area, I suggest you to use Benzoyl Peroxide (antibacterial and anti-inflammatory) 5 % twice daily for two to three months.

9. Take a capsule of Doxycycline (antibiotic) 100 mg once daily for one month.

10. For cleaning your face, use Cutiwash (Glycerin, Lactic Acid, Sodium Benzoate, and Propylene Glycol) soft foam gel face wash.

11. Avoid consuming oily and spicy food, junk food, milk products, and non-vegetarian foods.

12. Drink a lot of water that hydrates your skin.

Consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent.

I hope this helps.
