Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 25 years old and I used to stretch my penis very roughly when I was 17 to 18 years old. Since then it stays curved downwards and I have had problems in keeping it erect. I think I damaged the ligaments of my penis, please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

The erection in the penis occurs due to vascular supply and not due to the strength of ligaments. Stretching or masturbation does not cause any damage to the anatomical structure. The downward curvature during erection is normal and it will not cause any issues in sex. If you have a poor erection then you can get your serum testosterone levels checked to rule out hormonal issues.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

My TSH and testosterone reports are all good. My penis does not stay erect and when I had sex two years back I heard a popping sound. Recently I came to know about ligaments and I feel like I might have damaged them because of my rough pulling.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

Vigorous sex sometimes results in a sudden bend in the penis and injury to blood vessels. In that case, there is a sudden loss of curvature and erection along with severe pain and redness. This will need medical attention but since you are getting erections, it is not severe enough to cause any problems in sex. I do not think your jerking has damaged any ligaments. The penis has three structures- corpora cavernosa, corpora spongiosum, and tunica albuginea, all of these structures are engorged during an erection. Since your testosterone levels are fine and are in a good range, there should be no serious issue as long as you have early morning erections. If you still have any doubts then you can get a colored doppler penis ultrasound. This will rule out any anatomical issues.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
