Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have recovered from COVID-19 just before ten days. Now, pain is starting down the sternum on the left side, and there is dizziness and heaviness in the head. There is no fever and pain while breathing, but there is pain while touching that part. Also, there is no pinning or burns.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. Thank you for the query. I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have recently recovered from COVID infections. However, now you have been suffering from left-sided chest pain below the left sternum, dizziness, and feeling heaviness in your head. Such type clinical features may result from post-COVID complications. According to your statement, you may suffer from post-viral fatigue syndrome triggered by viral infections like COVID-19. The main symptom of post-viral fatigue is an overall feeling of tiredness or a significant lack of energy. You may feel exhausted even after plenty of sleep and resting. Other symptoms of post-viral fatigue are dizziness or vertigo, unexplained muscle or joint pain like chest pain, lightheadedness or feeling heaviness in the head, depression or anxiety, memory problems, lack of concentration or focus, etc. Therefore, some investigations like CBC (complete blood count), RBS (random blood sugar), thyroid function tests, exercise stress test, sleep study, etc., may be done to exclude the other causes of fatigue syndrome. Recovery from post-viral fatigue syndrome may vary from person to person, and there is no definite time frame. Therefore, treatment mainly focuses on managing the symptoms of post-viral fatigue. 1) For your chest pain, I suggest painkillers like tablet Ibuprofen, tablet Naproxen or tablet Acetaminophen. 2) You can take glucose mixed water regularly if you are free from diabetes mellitus. Glucose will provide you instant energy as it increases the oxygen circulation in the blood. 3) Take a balanced diet regularly. Try smaller but more frequent meals. 4) Limit your caffeine intake. 5) Stay hydrated. 6) Daily exercising and doing yoga, meditation, etc., may help you subside your post-viral fatigue syndrome. Take care. In case of any other query, knock me.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
