Postpartum Hemorrhage

Excessive and uncontrolled bleeding after childbirth is called postpartum hemorrhage. The condition is rare and severe and usually happens between one day to twelve weeks after childbirth. Every 1 to 5 women in 100 women is affected by postpartum hemorrhage. The loss of tone in the uterine muscles, a bleeding disorder, and the placenta failing to come out entirely are some of the causes of postpartum bleeding. Postpartum hemorrhage can lead to extremely low blood pressure due to excessive vaginal bleeding.
