Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am going on a vacation in two days and I am supposed to get my periods today. I still have not got them. I am wondering if there is anything I can take to get my periods now or take something that can delay my periods.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Initially, check urine pregnancy test as you were supposed to get menses today, but have not got them. it. Then if it is negative then get one gynecological ultrasound to know the endometrial thickness. If the endometrial lining is less than 5 to 6 mm then you should take a combination of oral contraceptive pills for 21 days and then off for one week. If the endometrial lining is thick and more than 7 to 8 mm then I suggest you start taking tablet Primolut-N (Norethisterone) 5 mg three times a day if you want to postpone your periods. You will get your menses in two to four days of stopping the medicine. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take the medicines with their consent.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
