Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My girlfriend and I indulged in sexual activity. She had her underwear on, and I had a condom on. While having sex, the condom slipped away, and now I am concerned if my precum (it was not much) could get her pregnant. It was not dripping, but she was wet. Is there any reason to worry or get emergency contraception? Kindly give your opinion.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

For getting pregnant, the sperms have to be ejaculated inside the vagina of the female. These sperms then need to fertilize an egg which may or may not be available depending on the ovulation pattern of the female. After successful fertilization, the egg is required to be implanted in the uterus of the female. Once all this happens successfully, then a female is said to have conceived. In your case, although there was just precum, but precum also contains some amount of sperm, and it can lead to pregnancy. In addition, please let me know the details of the last menstrual period so that the ovulation pattern of the female can be ascertained. However, since, in your case, the female was wearing underwear so there is a relief as sperms cannot swim across the cloth. Also, sperms do not survive in the open air for long. However, if there was an instance when she took down her underwear and your precum could have directly entered inside the female vagina, then you may consider taking the emergency contraceptive pill.

I hope this was helpful.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you.

We had sexual activity three days after my girlfriend's period. Kindly give your opinion.

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

With this additional information presented by you, as explained earlier, sperms cannot swim across the cloth. Also, with just three days post-period, there is a very rare possibility of the eggs being released. Sperms can survive up to five days in the female body, so even if sperms would have entered in that case also eggs would most likely not be released by the fifteenth of this month. I do not think so there is the possibility of pregnancy taking all these factors together. So do not worry. Your friend should not get pregnant.

I hope this was helpful.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you.

Today my girlfriend had some minor stomach ache and vomiting sensation. She slept very late last night as we were talking. Do you suspect anything about pregnancy pertaining to the previous information? We are really stressed. This thing about the stomach ache of my girlfriend is really bothering us. What I was thinking was that signs should not show up within three days, but we are very scared. We are still in the five-day window for emergency contraception. Should we take it? Considering that she thinks that the pain is not like a cramp but an acidity-induced kind of pain. Kindly give your opinion.

Hi.

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As you are too stressed, you may take the emergency contraceptive pill. Please get back if you have additional information to share or if you have any queries.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you.

Can pregnancy symptoms usually come as quickly as this? Kindly give your opinion.

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

No, usually symptoms may not appear this early. Although, as explained, chances of pregnancy are really low, but as you guys are unmarried and cannot afford any chance, I suggested emergency contraceptives.

I hope this was helpful.
