Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had an ultrasound today for my six-week pregnancy. According to doctors, the heartbeat is 95 beats per minute and is consistently low. Is this a cause for concern? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Six weeks of pregnancy is too early to count pulse or heart rate. At this gestation viability scan is advised to check whether the fetus is viable and growing well as pregnancy progresses.

Then in the third-trimester, it is important to monitor the heartbeat rate through the electronic fetal heart monitoring graph.

  • You should take Folic acid 0.4 mg tablets from prepregnancy if you have a normal weight without any chronic health issues.
  • Have a strict check on symptoms and if you experience any pain or bleeding then report to tertiary care gynecology emergency.
  • Rescan after one week for fetal viability.
  • Maintain a regular check-up schedule and receive frequent treatment if you have already had your health issues handled and follow up as needed.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
