Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 27 years old and pregnant with my first child, but I am obese. After getting pregnant, I was really scared of everything and stressed. I am also scared to go to the hospital and always think if anything will happen to my baby. In my last appointment, I was tensed, and the BP was 150/80 mm of Hg. Kindly help.

Hello,Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

The first pregnancy is a bit different and a new experience for any woman. She can have too many mood variations as well. Thinking of the future, pregnancy, intrapartum and postpartum changes physically and emotionally is a very new and unpredictable experience. Sometimes responsibilities, environment, and health issues also cause stress. Physical changes due to extreme hormonal changes can have different side effects on each individual. Please indulge in creative activities like reading and painting, which can lessen your thinking and affect your blood pressure. High blood pressure can affect not only the mother but also the baby, like eclamptic fits, preterm labor, placenta rupture, growth restriction, etc. Have healthy food with a restricted intake of salt and daily walking. Also, prepare for the next phase of life by reading parenting books, discussing with other experienced ladies, and thinking positively.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
