Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My upper and lower teeth do not meet properly when I bite. I wanted to go for braces; however, my orthodontist suggested to extract two of my front teeth so that the braces could be placed properly. Will the extracted teeth grow back or never come again?

Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and would be happy to help. You have an orthodontic problem; your jaws are small compared to your teeth size. Therefore, your teeth are not in a proper bite position. Your orthodontist has suggested removing two teeth called premolars which are present on the side, and not in the front. Removal of the teeth helps create space that helps align the teeth in a correct position. Also, the extracted teeth will not grow back; however, the space created will be closed during the treatment. It is also the right time to start the treatment as you are 15 years old. Therefore, I suggest you to go ahead with the treatment.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert in case of further doubts.

Thank you.
