Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am going to have sex for the first time with my fiance. We have decided that he will be using a condom for protection. But to be 100 % sure about not getting pregnant, I want to take pills. We will be together for a week, so there are chances of having sex every day during that week. Which pill would work best and not affect my regular period and hormonal health? My period cycle has been almost accurate all these years, and I do not want to disturb it. We will be meeting after seven days from now. Please guide me. I had my last period seven days ago.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your history and understand your concerns. If you use a condom properly, there is no chance of pregnancy. But for extra precaution, you can use combined oral contraceptive pills. Usually, it should be started on the first day of your menses, but you can start on the fifth day of your cycle on a daily basis. So you should start it from today itself.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Can I know the name of the pill and how do I take it?

Answered by Dr. Richa Agarwal

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I suggest you take Femilon (Ethinyl Estradiol and Desogestrel) tablet daily from the fifth day of your menstrual cycle. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and with their consent, take the medicines. But it is a prescription drug, and you need to take a prescription for the same.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
