Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 38 years old and have been having menstruation for the past eight days and still counting. My previous menstruation was seven months ago. And then it followed the next month and continues to the present. Is this normal for my age? And this has happened for the first time. Also, I have regular menstrual cycles. Also, I take the tablet Losartan.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

It would be better if you send me your complete medical, gynecological, obstetrics, and drug history. If this has developed recently, it should be investigated and if you have symptoms of anemia, dizziness, fainting, weakness, etc., start iron supplements immediately to prevent the risk of anemia. And I suggest you undergo a complete blood count, thyroid function test, and transvaginal scan. If the scan report reveals a thick endometrium, it is better to have an endometrial biopsy. However, have you recently started or stopped taking any medications or had any illness?

Also, try undergoing a complete health check-up and treatment for any health issue. If you are experiencing long and frequent menses I suggest you take the tablet Norethisterone (synthetic progestin) 10 mg twice daily from day 4 to day 24 for 3 cycles. Kindly undergo the blood tests and scan and consult a gynecologist for the same.

I hope I have answered your question.

Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
