Hi doctor,
I have had a long and irregular period for many years. I am on the 16th day of the period and have been bleeding profusely with heavy clots. The pad gets soaked within 30 minutes. I am also taking iron supplements. How to manage this? Kindly suggest.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. I suggest you answer the questions and follow the instructions mentioned below:
1. Have you taken a serum beta-hCG test to confirm your pregnancy? If not, I suggest you take a serum beta-hCG test and a transvaginal scan to confirm your pregnancy.
2. If the pregnancy test is negative, I suggest you consult a gynecologist and take an injection of 1 gram of Tranexamic acid (antifibrinolytic), and the tablet Ponstan (Mefenamic acid) 500 mg for three to five days.
3. In case of pregnancy, evacuation is suggested after consulting your gynecologist.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
