Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My father had a blood clot in the brain and left leg artery six months ago. He stopped recognizing the family members and started yelling our names for help. We were closer to him, but he could not realize it and claimed that we were ghosts who had come to kill him and were not his family members. This problem started two days ago. He is taking the tablets Levepsy 500 mg, Metola, and Ecosprin gold. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. The sudden onset of suspiciousness and inability to recognize family members can be due to depression with psychosis at this age. It can also occur due to some organic cause like infarction or interruption of blood supply to parts of the brain. But, the symptoms should be evaluated as they appeared suddenly. I suggest you do an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) brain to rule out the organic cause. I also suggest you consult a psychiatrist for proper evaluation and treatment.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
