Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had itching in my private areas and chapped nipples for more than two weeks. The skin is peeling off in the nipple area. It is getting too itching that I remove the layer of skin from the nipple. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Itchy nipple and private area could be due to

  1. Dry weather.
  2. Not enough lubrication due to less moisture.
  3. Allergic reaction to new bra and underwear.
  4. Allergic or Atopic dermatitis.
  5. Candidiasis or fungal infection.
  6. Paget's disease or non-cancerous growths
  7. Any early precancerous changes

So, I suggest the following.

  1. It would be best if you kept your private area clean and safe.
  2. Do not apply any soap.
  3. Wear loose cotton undergarments and a bra.
  4. Can apply a moisturizer to the nipple area.
  5. Avoid hot showers.
  6. Apply Candid ointment to the private area and breasts after bathing.

Try these for the next two weeks. If symptoms do not improve and itching persists, consult a specialist for an examination. Again, it is essential to rule out any infections and growth.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
