Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a broken tooth, and the gum seems to be receding. It has not come off yet, but it is very close to falling off. I have no pain, discolorations, bumps, or spots anywhere in my mouth. I cannot afford to go to the dentist, as my dad is the only one who works to support the family. It has been a long time since I have had this problem. So, is there any way I could treat this at home until I can see a dentist?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your question, and I can understand your concern.

The tooth is grossly decayed and can only be treated by root canal treatment, a costly procedure. As of now no treatment is required at home because the tooth is not hurting you. To prevent further infection, I suggest you brush your teeth twice daily and use saline gargles before going to bed.

If there was pain at any time during its decaying history, it means that the pulp is exposed. Then I suggest you place sterilized cotton in the affected tooth while having food, if it cannot always be kept at least most of the time.

I hope my answer will help you.
