What causes red sores on the penile head?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

This morning during sex, I had a sharp pain in my penis. I observed red sores on the penis head. What could be the reason?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. It could not be cancer and herpes, but this can be either due to forceful sex (when there is not enough lubricant, then the skin can break) or some infections that cause pain and rash.

I suggest you to follow the instructions mentioned below.

  1. Apply ointment that contains Clotrimazole and Beclomethasone (topical antifungal medication) daily for five days. Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them and take medications with their consent.

Avoid sex until it heals.

  1. Is this the first time you have had such a tear?
  2. Does your partner have any sexually transmitted infections?
  3. Do you have multiple partners?

Kindly follow up with the answers. Thank you.

Also, I want you to answer a few questions.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

No, my partner does not have infections, and I do not have multiple partners. Could it be a yeast infection, as she just came off her period?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, it could be a yeast infection, but less lubrication and forceful sex probably lead to such tears. Do not worry. Just apply the ointment I suggested and avoid sex for five days.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
