Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had mild acne when I was 14 to 16 years old, and it recently stopped. However, I now have red dots all over my face that look as if they are beneath my skin, it has been almost a year, and they are still on my face. I am not on any medication for it or for other health issues. What do you recommend?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern. Pimples can be due to hormonal causes or can be due to oily skin. I suggest you:

  1. Do not use hair oil or sticky cream on your face.
  2. Avoid oily food, chocolate, and milk products.
  3. Avoid dust, and use sunscreen (above 30 SPF).
  4. Do not rub any creams on the face.
  5. Do not use any steroid creams.
  6. Facewash or soap is not a treatment or is very useful.
  7. Do not touch acne and avoid pressing it.
  8. For treatment (do follow up at least a month)
  9. Clindamycin (Clintop, Faceclin, Cleargel) - This is more preventive and curative. Use it all over your face in the morning.
  10. Adapalene gel (Adapalene-3 mg/g) - Use it over acne at night.
  11. Tablet Doxy (Doxycycline) 100 mg once a day.

I hope this helps.

Regards.
