Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 28-year-old male who does not take any medication. I have a red spot approximately 0.7 inches in diameter located at the back of my left knee that is not painful or itchy but has not reduced in size or redness in several weeks. Please help.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

There could be multiple causes for your red spots.

1. Contact dermatitis is an allergic reaction to something that has come into contact with your skin, such as a new detergent, fabric softener, or lotion.

2. Eczema is a chronic skin condition that can cause red, itchy patches on the skin.

3. Insect bites or stings can cause a red spot on the skin.

4. Skin infections such as certain bacterial or fungal infections can cause red, inflamed spots on the skin.

The spot could also be a benign skin growth, such as a cherry angioma or a mole. First, we have to start by applying some lotion and one tablet. If it does not regress in size, you need some blood tests.

For home remedies, I would suggest you do the following:

  1. Apply coconut oil over that area.
  2. Avoid itching.
  3. Wash your clothes separately from your family members.

I hope the information will help.

Thanks.
