Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have developed rheumatoid arthritis (RA) symptoms after covid. Upon receiving the second booster from Pfizer, it became more apparent. I am now taking tablet Prednisolone 10 mg regularly. Last week, I took a blood test that revealed a rheumatoid factor (RF) of 65. I have developed diabetes as well, and my HbA1c is 7.4. Besides diabetes, I have no other health problems and do not smoke. What will be my diagnosis, and should I be taking any other medicine?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I suggest you take tablet Methotrexate (Rheumatrex) 10 mg once a week only on Mondays and tablet Folic acid (Folvite) 10 mg weekly on Tuesdays. Decrease the dose of tablet Prednisolone (Flo-pred) to 5 mg. Tablet Methotrexate will take about four weeks to act, and then steroids can be stopped. In addition, start tablet Metformin (Fortamet) 500 mg after dinner to take care of diabetes. It is necessary to reduce weight and manage it.
