Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have spots on my face and neck. A few of them bleed now and then, but stop after a few minutes. I am currently on tablet Lipitor 10 mg (Atorvastatin) and tablet Nexium 40 mg (Esomeprazole 40 mg). I just wanted to check if I should be worried. Please suggest to me on this.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. It is acne rosacea. It is a skin disorder that affects people above 30 years. Other than acne-like lesions, people with rosacea have redness of the face and dry skin associated with a burning sensation. The redness of the face is aggravated by triggering factors such as weather changes, stress, alcohol consumption, exercise, spicy foods, and hot beverages. You must avoid these trigger factors. Apply Nadibact cream 10 gm (Nadifloxacin 1%) at daytime for 15 days on inflammatory and painful pimples. Take Tablet Doxy 100 mg (Doxycycline) once a day after food for 15 days. Use Photostable sunscreen daily from 9 AM - 12 PM - 3 PM for two months. Avoid direct sunlight while on tablet Doxycyline, as it is a photosensitive drug. Apply 1 percent Metronidazole gel at night daily for 15 days. Wash your face with Cetaphil cleanser twice a day for 20 days (30 minutes before application of sunscreen in the morning). Hope this was helpful. Regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply. The mark on the tip of the nose scabs now and again. Is it a type of a cancer mark?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It is not cancerous. Stay relaxed. Do not worry. But do look for any changes in the mole or crusted lesion. If you notice any change, revert soon as skin cancer occurs after 50 years of age (most common age group). Do self-examination to observe any changes in shape, size, colour, and margins of lesion. Rosacea is a chronic condition and may stay for a long time. It sometimes shows signs of flare-up, generally as a response to anxiety, stress, excitement, and prolonged exposure to sun. I suggest you to take care of the following things. Minimize sun-exposure. Use sunscreen every day meticulously. Do not apply any cosmetics on the face. Avoid the application of harsh topicals like steroids and retinoids. I suggest you the following medication. Take Capsule Antoxid - HC (antioxidant) once daily after breakfast for 30 days. Kindly revert for further queries. Regards.

Treatment plan

Take Tablet Doxycycline 100 mg. Use photostable sunscreen. Moisturise skin daily with Venusia max or Cetaphil lotion after bath.
