Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have had itching in my body not constantly but frequent itching for the last one month. There is a constant itching in my chest, and also, there have been very small, red pimple-type marks on my thighs. What could be the reason, and is there any cure for it? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. It can be scabies, a condition caused by a mite. With naked eyes cannot see the mite, but only under the microscope. Symptoms include intense itching, which worsens at night, and bumps are seen all over but more prominent between fingers, around the axilla. The presence of bumps over male genitalia is almost always diagnostic. I would like to know the answers to the following questions to help make a proper diagnosis and suggest the appropriate treatment. Is the itching more at night? Are the itchy bumps present on genitalia too? Anyone else in the family or friends has the same? I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up with the answers. Take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your response. The itching is not specifically at night. But it is frequent throughout the day. No one in my family has this problem. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Scabies along with papular urticaria are the two possibilities. I would suggest the following medications for this condition. I suggest you to use Permethrin (insecticide) 5 % cream. This cream needs to be applied all over the body, below the neck at night. Leave it overnight, and take a hot water bath in the morning. This should be repeated after one week for a complete response. You also need to wash the clothes and bed sheets in hot water on the same day. Take the tablet Fexofenadine hydrochloride (antihistamine) 180 mg twice a day. Apply Momate-F cream (Mometasone furoate and Fusidic acid cream) on the bumps daily twice a day. Take Tablet Ivermectin (antiparasitic) 12 mg one tablet today and one after one week, and review after two weeks. Consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medicines with their consent. I hope this has helped you. Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
