Hi doctor,

I have scabies and intense itching in the genital region and other areas. I have used several lotions, but it is still not cured. Please tell me about the treatment.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

From your descriptions, it seems that you are suffering from scabies. If you can send some pictures, it will be helpful for me in the management part.

Scabies is an intensely itchy skin infestation caused by the mite. Scabies can often be diagnosed clinically with a pruritic rash with the itching occurring predominantly at night and characteristic linear burrows over limbs; other family members can be affected.

Regarding treatment, I suggest you visit a specialist and get consent from the doctor. On day one, I suggest using 5 % Permethrin cream during the night and apply anywhere below the neck, leave it for 10 to 12 hours and then take a bath with antiparasitic soap for seven days. Also, take the tablet Ivermectin 12 mg single dose same day, and wash your used clothes thoroughly and wear fresh clothes after a bath the next day.

On day two, apply Fluticasone 0.05 % cream twice daily for five to seven days and take tablet Levocetirizine once daily for the same duration, and get a review after one week.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
