Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had a chalazion for almost a year now. It looked like a little blister with no fluid inside. It was surgically removed a month ago, but I still see a red bump. The doctor said it was scar tissue and gave me a Cortisone shot during the follow-up. However, it has been two days and the scar tissue bump is still on my top eyelid. How long does the Cortisone take to work? Does it work immediately or take time? Should I go to another eye doctor?Kindly help. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. The steroid injection usually takes seven days to show the effect. My advice is to consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and take medicines with their consent. Start using anti-scar creams over the area. Keep your hydration level good during these few weeks. Take analgesics after the surgery to bring the swelling down. Usually, a chalazion is incised from the underside of the lid. I have usually not seen a troublesome scar, but the Cortisone shot should do its job. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

What kind of scar cream and analgesics should I use? Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and take medications with their consent. Take a tablet of Chymotrypsin once a day after meals for three days. Use Mederma (purified water, PEG-4, Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, Allium cepa bulb extract, Xanthan gum, Allantoin, Methylparaben, and Sorbic acid) anti-scar cream. Can you send a close-up picture of ur lesion? Usually, a chalazion incision is pretty small and should not be such a problem. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
