Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a lot of scar tissue on my cervix and I have really heavy periods. Tried birth control, had very serious side effects, stopped the birth control. I have tried Provera. My legs got swollen, stopped taking that. She tried an IUD and due to a lot of scar tissue, she could not insert it all the way. I was wondering since I have a lot of scar tissue, can I get the Novasure ablation done?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have a feeling that your problem is of quite serious in nature as you are bleeding heavily and yes you can try for ablation but there is a chance of its failure as ablation devices may not enter into the scarred cervix and additionally associated with injuries like perforation and damage to other nearby organs. I would like to add into your knowledge that another option to control heavy bleeding is a hysterectomy (removal of womb) which is the definitive treatment and is suitable to those with other failed conservative measures. The latest technique is the use of uterine artery embolization to control heavy bleeding is becoming popular these days for those who do not want to undergo surgeries.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
