Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 38 weeks pregnant. My doctor advised me to undergo tests to check my alkaline phosphatase levels. My alkaline phosphatase level is 420 IU/L. My gynecologist has prescribed me the tablet Udiliv 300 mg. Will my baby be harmed due to such high alkaline phosphatase levels?

Please help me. I am worried.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. I suggest you send me your detailed medical and gynecological history to understand your case better. What is the cause of undergoing a recent liver function test? You are currently 38 weeks pregnant with a mature fetus. In case of any abnormal liver function or any abnormal fetal activity, you may have to deliver the baby according to the situation.

I suggest you to follow the instructions given below -

  1. If you have been treated for obstetric cholestasis, then you need to deliver if you have any symptoms, as symptoms can harm the fetus. You will require strict monitoring in the third trimster, and you will have to plan your delivery in advance.
  2. Please look out for any symptoms such as itching, rashes, and reduced fetal movements.
  3. Have an immediate fetal monitoring CTG (cardiotocography) in a tertiary care hospital, and keep a strict check on the fetal well being.
  4. Get a detailed examination done by your gynecologist and discuss the protocols for the management of delivery at this time.
  5. In case of any abnormalities, undergo urgent mother and fetal monitoring to plan the delivery.

I hope this helped you out.

Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
