Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am concerned about the rash in my groin area and on my penis. I had similar rashes before but it was not STDs (sexually transmitted diseases), but this rash looks bad. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. Did the rash appear before or after the application of any cream? Did you have a fever? Did you scratch or rub the lesion excessively? Did you use any fragrance-based lotion or moisturizer? Do you maintain proper genital hygiene? Did you come in contact with any irritants? Is the itching aggravated at night? Kindly revert with the answers. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you for your reply doctor,

The rashes appeared before the application of any cream or lotion. I maintained good hygiene and did not have a fever. However, the rash appeared a few hours after having unprotected oral sex, and my partner had lip balm applied to her lips. Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It could be irritant contact dermatitis. I would suggest the use of One percent Hydrocortisone cream or gel twice daily for two weeks. Wash the area with no soap cleanser daily with lukewarm water for one month. Also, maintain proper hygiene of the groin area, and practice safe sex. Kindly revert for more queries. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you for your reply doctor,

Is it normal for the rash to be on my scrotum and below part too? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the image (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), which looks like balanitis. The other possibilities could be genital scabies and balanitis xerotica obliterans. Maintain proper hygiene of that area and avoid scratching or rubbing the groin region. Also, practice safe sex with the use of protection. I would suggest the use of one percent Hydrocortisone cream or gel twice daily for four weeks. Thank you.
