Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had intercourse a few days ago this month and took I-pill the next morning. I started light bleeding, and the next day it was lighter. It may not be a period but withdrawal blood, but I have not appropriately bled for the last two months, only light bleeding for three days. What should I do?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) is ubiquitous especially in the young population. Irregular periods, scanty menses, acne, and excessive weight gain are commonly seen in PCOS. Since you have been expecting scanty menses for three months, I suggest you do an ultrasound pelvis scan, thyroid profile, and CBC (complete blood count) to rule out any pathology. The bleeding you experienced could be your menstrual bleeding, as withdrawal bleeding usually occurs in two or three days.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
