Common "Shoulder Stiffness" queries answered by top doctors | iCliniq

Shoulder Stiffness

"Frozen shoulder or also called adhesive capsulitis, is a condition characterized by stiffness and pain in the shoulder joint. The condition's symptoms develop gradually, worsen over time, and go away often within one to three years. The stiffness and pain in the shoulder make movement difficult or impossible. It usually occurs when a person recovers from a medical condition or surgery that prevents arm movement, such as a stroke or a mastectomy. Treatment for frozen shoulder involves various motion exercises, corticosteroids and numbing medications injected into the joint capsule, and arthroscopic surgery to loosen the joint capsule.
