Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been going through severe anxiety and sleep problems for the past two years. Though it has decreased now tremendously due to the practice of pranayamas like Sudarshan Kriya, I still sometimes feel restless during sleep. During the start of this year, I consulted a psychiatrist and got these prescribed medications for constant anxiety and restlessness Escitalopram 10 mg and Amitone 10 mg for three months. Many symptoms like constant anxiety and poor sleep were reduced, but after this, I did not get much relaxation due to restlessness during sleep. My main concern is about restlessness during sleep. I would like to have a relaxed sleep. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I just read your query and saw the attached files (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). You have mentioned that your anxiety is better than before, but there is still some restlessness. You also said that allopathic medicines give you relief. Still, you do not have enough relief from Ayurvedic medicine. You got relief from pranayama, so rather than advising you on any medication, I suggest you visit a nearby Ayurveda physician or panchkarma center and ask for the procedures like Shirodhara, Shiro Basti, etc. These procedures use herbal oils to relieve anxiety and are very helpful for your restlessness while sleeping. You will feel better after some sessions. Along with that, take some consultations from a psychiatrist. This will increase the positive result. Also do regular exercise like walking, jogging, cycling or yoga whatever you like. You can do painting, dancing or devote time to your hobby. It will also reduce your anxiety. Always eat fresh and healthy food. Eat fresh fruits and add various berries to your diet regimen. They will also help you. But consult a panchkarma center, it will help you a lot, and you will feel better soon.

I hope my reply cleared your query.

Wear a mask and stay safe.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

Due to this pandemic, I do not think it will be possible for me to visit any nearby Ayurveda physician. Pranayamas have helped me reduce some anxiety but let me tell you, sometimes it is excruciating to go to sleep with some restlessness in the body and legs. It is an emergency for me right now, so please request you to recommend some ayurvedic medicines that I can order online and start using after going through all the all history that I have mentioned previously. I wish to get some relaxing sleep without much restlessness. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your point. You can buy Brahmi oil and do gentle massage on your whole body daily. You can massage your head and scalp also. Massage with it in the morning and take a bath with lukewarm water after half an hour. You can take help from your family members for the massage.

Also, get Mahanarayan oil (Mahanarayan oil (Aswagandha, Bilva, Gokhuru) and gently massage your legs, arms, and back in the evening. It helps relieve pain, and you will feel results after regular use of one week. Along with this, take one glass of lukewarm milk before bedtime regularly and add half a teaspoon of almond powder, one-fourth teaspoon of green cardamom powder, and a little bit of sugar in it. It will also help you in inducing sound sleep. Take tablet Manasmithra Vatakam (Bala, Nagbala, Bilwa) one tablet two times a day with water after food for two weeks. Follow all these measures, and you will feel better results soon. You can get these ayurvedic products online easily. Consult a nearby Ayurveda physician or me after two weeks regarding improvement and for further management.

Thank you.

Regarding follow up

After two weeks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
