Smell and taste disturbance occurs due to smell and taste disorders. It is caused due to upper respiratory tract infection, ear infection, radiotherapy used for cancer of the head and neck, exposure to chemicals, and head injury. The symptoms are loss of smell, loss of taste, reduced ability to smell and taste to food items. Treatment depends on reducing the cause.
