Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I only started having a sore throat when I swallowed on one side about 15 days ago. While the pain has reduced significantly, it has become irritated and itchy. I also started to have intermittent ear pain and itching on the same side. What could be the cause?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I have gone through your symptoms. At present, many viral infections are spreading throughout India. That could be a subclinical infection affecting your throat, for which there will be an inflammation of lymph nodes located beneath your ear, which might have presented to you as ear pain. The other possibility is GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), where acid reflux from the stomach to the throat causes inflammation and pain.

I hope this information will help.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

Will this cause one-sided throat pain, though I have no swollen lymph nodes?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Infection or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease can cause this one-sided throat pain. Sometimes lymph nodes can be smaller, which we call sub-centimetric lymph nodes.

I hope this information will help.

Thanks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
