Hello doctor,

I have spent many hours resolving many dysfunctions in my body. To tell you what I have self-diagnosed from a doctor's visit, and my X-ray of spina bifida occulta L3-L4 showed a lateral pelvic tilt right side which is higher, right psoas tightness, right external or internal oblique tightness, I am not sure which one of the two muscles, right adductor magnus tightness, right peroneal tendon tightness, right quadratus lumborum (QL) tightness, right rhomboid muscle tightness, left weak or lose gluteus medius and gluteus minimus muscle, left weak or lose gluteus maximus muscle, left tensor fascia lata (TFL) tightness, left hamstring tightness, left rectus femoris tightness or weakness and left anterior tibialis tightness. Which I am thinking was the cause of slight scoliosis. Now all these issues, I have been working through lacrosse ball self-massage and various rehabilitation exercises. I have corrected my lateral pelvic tilt for two months now. I am spending at least one hour a day. But, I have two things which, I can not figure out how to solve. I am thinking my right side sacroiliac joint (SI-joint) is the main cause of spina bifida (which means my spine is not straight). So, constantly would be putting asymmetrical loads. But above the SI-joint above crest of the ilium with a lacrosse ball, I am getting severe pain in the ligaments in that area. But this can get loosen up my hip and pain a bit. Some muscles attaching to the crest of the ilium, I guess it is the glute medius or obliques when I try to lie down and extend my right leg out in a stretch or more so when I point it towards the left side like stretch it out I am having a huge pain and tightness in the crest of the ilium. I have tried countless exercises like lacrosse ball or gluteus medius trigger points and many other muscles excercises, I can not figure out this fully. I did notice when I aggressively work on the adductor magnus way up high with lacrosse ball can get referred pain in the same crest of ilium, which is sort of a release and second problem I can not solve yet is the left rectus femoris is tight and not so painful but also weak too. I am thinking that is from a tight left hamstring which is then from weak left gluteus muscles. But I am trying to work on the tightness trigger points of rectus femoris can not solve yet. Please advise.

I have not seen you in person. It is difficult to know how you are affected by spina bifida occulta. This condition does not usually cause asymmetrical weight bearing. The multiple muscle weaknesses and tensions mentioned are not really separate conditions; they mean that your muscles are weak or tight due to either a postural problem or an activity that you do that is asymmetrical in its effects on your muscles and joints. There is only so much you can 'self-diagnose," and there are real limits to that approach. Your muscles can be tight due to joint fixations which you are unaware. You should benefit from a visit to a good chiropractor or osteopath in your city. I am happy to elaborate if you would like to follow up. Thank you.
