Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I take Microgestin Fe 1/20 and I am starting to have a lot of spotting. I had spotting yesterday for a couple of hours and then it stopped but then it started again today. However, I think it is because yesterday, I took my pill six hours after I usually take it. Honestly, this spotting makes me very uncomfortable, should I get off the pill or should I keep taking it? And if I should keep taking it, how do I stop feeling so uncomfortable? Since I still have mild cramps.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your discomfort. The trick is to take the pill at the same time every day. As of now do not stop the pill as you have started it already and stopping will result in getting bleeding again.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

How long will I be spotting if I start consistently taking it at a certain time?

Answered by Dr. Megha Tuli

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You should not have the spotting at all if you take it regularly at the same time. If spotting persists even after that then the brand probably is not suiting you and you should consider changing the tablet in the next cycle.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

If I take the pill exactly at the same time as I did yesterday, should I be fine? Like how many days, do I have to be consistent for it to stop?

Answered by Dr. Megha Tuli

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, if you take it consistently for 48 hours then this spotting should stop. And then, continue taking it at the same time to prevent such episodes again.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
